Classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays, 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

We have the use of both Thatcham Childrens Centre and a fully matted dojo at Newbury Judo club. Both indoor facillities provide an excellent space to learn, with a full range of matted and unmatted surfaces to develop good taijutsu. In the summer we train outdoors at Snelsmore Common. These outdoor sessions are invaluable in learning more realistic ukemi and training in the elements brings many of the techniques to life. The lack of ceilings lets us use long weapons and rope and chain weapons with much more flexibility and safety.

Techniques are both unarmed and traditional Japanese weapons, as well as unarmed defense against weapons. On joining Students get a black gi, indoor tabi (footwear) and the syllabus as part of their training. Students are graded in combination of formal and informal ways and are expected to show a development in both flow and adaptability as they grade.
