Bujinkan Newbury Dojo has two childrens classes twice a week.
Ko Shinobi:
8yrs to 11yrs old
5.15pm to 6.00pm Wednesdays only.
Tengu:
12yrs to 15yrs old
6.15pm to 7.15pm Mondays & Wednesdays
First session is free to try a lesson and see what we are teaching. Each lesson is slightly different as we cover a wide range of techniques. The syllabus covers striking, kicking, break-away techniques, rolling, breakfalls, throws, traditional Japanese weapons (as appropriate) and defence against weapons. Lessons run all year round, with a break only over the christmas / new year period.
Mondays class is at Thatcham Childrens Centre, where we have a half matted hall. Wednesdays Class is at Newbury Judo Club with a fully matted floor. These two locations give us flexibility with both accessibility and differing conditions. Each student will be given a syllabus when they join, along with their training gi (suit) and belt.
Training will be conducted in a semi-formal light-hearted atmosphere, aimed to encourage the students and help them develop their confidence, awareness of their surroundings, and their level of concentration.
Any training weapons that are required will be provided by the club, and students will be strictly supervised in there use. Any student seen to be using the training weapons in an unsafe manner will be taken out of that class until they can demonstrate safe practice.
